Group Dust Systems for Cigarette Makers

All cigarette making machines have an integral system to extract dust from tobacco during the making process. When several makers are installed, a central dust collection system offers the customer many advantages. Griffin with its extensive knowledge of air and pneumatic systems, offers a system that is automatically balanced to ensure consistent cigarette weights at each maker.

The system provides the facility for the collection of winnows from each maker which is separated from the exhaust air prior to the main filter unit. Each maker is fitted with a balance valve to compensate the system should the maker be switched off. Silencers may be fitted to the balance valve to ensure low noise levels in the Secondary Department.

Butterfly valves are fitted to both sides of the valve for balancing the system and to ensure that the correct amount of air is drawn from the main system.

Winnows Separator

The Winnows Separator allows winnows to be removed from the exhaust air flow before entering the filter to prevent damage to the filter bags. The separator incorporates a rotary valve discharging the product into a collection box. Bleed air is taken from the discharge chute and back into the air system to ensure that the winnows are dust free.

Coarse and fine dust may be separated before the filter by using a screening separator. Dust from the filter may be discharged by a rotary valve and collected in a box or via a screw conveyor into a boxing or briquetting station.

Filters offered are of the reverse jet type having round or envelope type fabric filter bags.
